Shipping Container ARRIVED!

A Big THANK YOU to all the people who contributed to the shipping container. Enough funds were raised to cover the higher-than-expected costs associated with the crane and trucking fees. The container arrived March 2008 and Roy traveled there in August to open and distribute the contents for the school, medical clinic, Girls' Home and orphanage. Click slideshow below to see the loading of the container, arrival of container at the orphanage, and the opening of the container in Africa!

James 1:27, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit orphans and widows in their trouble.."

Based on James 1:27, it is the objective of "Project Africa" through "I AM" World Missions Outreach, Inc. to generate funds in order to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ, to train spiritual leaders and counselors, and to provide humanitarian relief to the orphans and widows in Atta, Africa.

Bishop Ben

Through a network of prayer and financial support, our goal is to continue support for the work of Bishop Ben Egbujor. He promotes the gospel in Nigeria and is making disciples (training pastors, counselors and leaders), thus fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 29:19-20.

Children are the ultimate victims as more than 65 million orphans are left behind due to the four major killers: HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, malaria and diabetes in Africa. Project Africa continuously supports Manna Children's Home, an orphanage with 45 children. We hope to equip the small clinic with medical supplies. We support the Christian school with approximately three hundred in attendance.

Girls' Safe Home and Skills Centre

The constuction of the first level of the safe home is nearly complete, with enough rooms finished for eight occupants to reside. The girls will come to know the Lord and become equipped with life-sustaining skills. To see photos of this construction, click on slideshow below.

Girls' Safe Home

In Africa's culture, widows are neglected. Most are abandoned by immediate and extended families; making them outcasts of society. They endure multiple health problems. They lack shelter, or their homes are in a state of disrepair. Many are forced to live in high crime areas, making them vulnerable to con artists. "Project Africa" envisions helping them to grow spiritually, for widows did play a vital and crucial role in society through the ministry of prayer in 1Timothy 5. In love we must help them. Their most urgent physical needs must be met and we must also teach them skills to become self-sustaining.

Our final goal is to hear our Savior say, "Well done, good and faithful servant....!"

December 2007

The shipping container to Nigeria is almost ready to be shipped and we can actually see the pallets nearly filled! We will be accepting donations for this container through December 15, and will then submit the inventory list to the Nigerian government for review to accept into their country. We are still short on funds for shipping the container but we’re trusting God shall provide. The Lord has really been blessing us with the items and the wonderful people that we have come in contact with recently. It’s been such an experience not only being a part of, but also seeing, God do so many miracles.

Construction of the Girls’ Safe Home and Skill Centre has begun! The cement blocks are currently being formed by hand, and because we haven’t gotten the cement mixers to the location yet, the cement is also being mixed by hand. It is amazing what can be accomplished with only a few resources and a lot of determination. God is truly blessing everyone involved with the strength to make this shelter a home.

To truly acquaint people with the orphans we are helping in Africa, we will be sharing each orphan’s individual story. Chinwee, a woman who recently returned to London from a trip to Nigeria, has offered her services. She will be writing up the stories, recounting the events of their lives and the challenges these children are facing today. This will help people connect with the children on a relatable level, showing a past, a present and (hopefully) a bright and promising future!
